Local Places to Visit

Dubwath Silver Meadows

This is a Wetland Nature Reserve developed with the aid of Heritage Lottery funding. Dubwath Silver Meadows is just a 2 minute walk from Ouse Bridge Guest House. There is a boarded walkway along the wetter parts of the reserve and so there is no need for special footwear.

Keswick is located at the opposite end of Bassenthwaite Lake and on the edge of Derwent Water, which is about 10 minutes drive from the Guest House. The heart of Keswick is the Market Square, ringed round with shops and hotels. There are no cars in the pedestrianised area which makes for a very pleasant shopping experience. You'll have plenty of access to lakeside walks, water sports and fell top hikes from the town too.

Cockermouth is a local town which is a 5 minute drive from the Guest House. Historically a part of Cumberland, Cockermouth is situated outside the English Lake District on its northwest fringe. Much of the architectural core of the town remains unchanged since the basic medieval layout was filled in the 18th and 19th centuries. The regenerated market place is now a central historical focus within the town and reflects events during its 800-year history.
